Rain frustrates Nottinghamshire at Lords

There was no play before lunch at Lords today in the already weather-ravaged Specsavers County Championship Division One match between Middlesex and Nottinghamshire.

Heavy rain began shortly after the players had finished their pre-play warm-ups and groundstaff brought the covers on. An inspection is planned for 1.30pm but more rain is forecast and prospects for any play this afternoon do not look good.

Both sides have bonus points still to play for, with Middlesex due to resume on 203 for 3 from 62.2 overs in reply to Nottinghamshire’s first innings of 354. Yesterday’ third day was a total washout and there has been much frustration at Lord’s at the intrusion of the weather into what might have been a fascinating contest.
