Langley Mill United’s second XI are within touching distance of securing promotion and the Division Five North title after a convincing win over Ambergate on Saturday.
United batted first and produced a good display throughout their 46 overs, despite losing opener Andrew Ball without scoring and number three Nick Wright for just four runs.
Lewis Pinder, however, was on the offensive from the off and went on to make an excellent 133 before being run out courtesy of Craig Hammond.
Grant Ball also batted well to make a half century before he was out for 56, while Oliver Blake (22) and Connor Richardson (33) both added useful contributions as the Millers ended on 256-6.
Ambergate began poorly and never looked likely to come anywhere near their target, Sam Beveridge top scoring with 37 as they were all out for 104 inside 28 overs.
Richardson was top bowler for Langley Mill with 4-31 from 6.3 overs, Steven Bailey and Steven Walker claiming two wickets each and Alex Bacon the other to leave the Millers on the verge of glory.
