Dom’s double helps Selston maintain pressure at the top

Selston kept the pressure on at the top of the Senior Division on Saturday as they overcame Ruddington Village 4-2 at the Parish Hall Ground.

Sean Gregory struck early on for Selston and Jay Cooper soon added a second, whilst two goals from Dominic Airey sealed the win.

Awsworth Villa fell to a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at home to West Bridgford who now sit fourth in the table, Villa down in 14th.

Two of the top four met in Division One and it was Underwood Villa who ran out 4-1 winners at Kimberley MW Reserves with Preston Robinson scoring twice, Nick Thorpe and Luke Williams with their other goals and Luke Hodgman replying for Welfare.

Awsworth Villa Reserves were in NFA Junior Cup action but their season gets no better as they were beaten 4-2 by FC Coopers, Kieran Saxton with both of Villa’s goals.

Also in Junior Cup action were Kimberley MW AFC who won 4-1 at Bawtry Town Reserves thanks to goals from Mark Jordan, John Michalski, Daniel Walsh and John Whitehurst.

In the same competition, Underwood Villa Reserves won by the same score, disposing of Gedling Southbank A with Ashley Foster scoring twice and Sam Tring and Tim Berridge also hitting the target.

In Division Two, Watnall Athletic were involved in an eight-goal thriller at Keyworth United Reserves to keep the pressure on at the top.

Martin Ward hit a hat-trick whilst Joe Brookes and Kieran Miles were also on target for Watnall who are three points behind Kimberley MW AFC.
