ASHFIELD has been declared the cheapest place to buy a home in the East Midlands, according to a report published by the National Housing Federation.

The average house price to buy a home in the district is £114,245, but the report warns that house prices across the East Midlands have increased faster than the national average.

Neil Griffiths, of the National Housing Federation, said: “With high house prices and comparatively low wages in the region, affordability is a major issue.”
