Retro: The Eastwood Town side who won 21-0 during the 1968/69 season
Former Eastwood Town defender Keith Robinson took a trip down memory lane with this team picture from the 1968/69 season.
Keith, who commuted from Leicester for games and training, played every game but one that season and was crowned player of the year.
Arthur Rowley was the captain and played over 800 games for Eastwood over the years and never received a yellow or red card.
Eastwood finished second in the league in a season which saw them record a 21-0 win over Ilkeston Town. Amazingly it only equalled the club’s best ever win after they beat Rufford Colliery by the same score in October 1954.
The players are: Back row – left to right: P. Dunkin; Alec Jackson – right back; Arthur Rowley – left back (captain); Ken Harper – goalkeeper; Roy Davies – right midfield; Keith Robinson – centre half; Mick Fowler – left midfield;
Front row – left to right: Reg Smith – right wing; Peter Sheppard – inside right; John Wilmott – center forward; Neil McAllister – inside left; John James – left wing.
Keith has been living in North America since 1975 and now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
