As the hunt for Mansfield Town’s new manager continues, there are no fewer than seven bosses with local connections being tipped to take over. Here is a look at those candidates in the running.
1. Adam Murray
The current caretaker manager joined the Stags on permanent basis as a player in 2011, following an earlier loan spell.
2. Colin Calderwood
The former Stags player has managed Northampton Town, Nottingham Forest, and Hibernian. He is currently assistant manager at Norwich City.
3. Ian Baraclough
Another former Stags player, Baraclough has managed Scunthopre United, and Sligo Rovers, with whom he parted company in the summer.
4. Brian Laws
Laws has been out of a management job since he left Scunthorpe last year. The former Forest player has also managed Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley, and Grimsby Town.
5. Paul Sturrock
The Scot has managed seven clubs north and south of the border, including Sheffield Wednesday. He left Southend United last year after three years at the helm.
6. James Beattie
The former England and Sheffield United striker got is first job in management last year when he took over at Accrington Stanley. He left the club earlier this season.
7. Nigel Worthington
Worthington began his club management career at Blackpool in 1997. After a spell at Norwich City, he went onto manage the Northern Ireland national team between 2007 and 2011. Most recently the former Sheffield Wednesday player managed York City.
8. Ronnie Moore
Possibly the most experienced manager on the list, Moore’s management career spans nearly 20 years.
He has managed Southport, and Oldham Athletic, and had two spells in charge at both Tranmere Rovers and Rotherham United.
9. Sean O’Driscoll
The current England U19 manager has enjoyed spells in charge at Bournemouth, Doncaster Rovers, Crawley Town, Nottingham Forest, and Bristol City.
