Kimberley MW made a winning start to their new era with a 3-1 home East Midlands Counties League over Clipstone on Saturday.
With new management duo Luke Humphreys and Marko Markelic in charge and a wealth of new faces, Kimberley sealed victory with a Lee Williamson goal seven minutes from time.
Former Holbrook Sports striker Isaac Minott had put them ahead with a deflected effort on 11 minutes and Jordan Alls increased the advantage 12 minutes later.
After Dean Rick and Tim Gregory went close just before half-time, Cobras skipper Jason Gregory pulled one back for newcomers Clipstone five minutes into the second half when he headed home a Danny Naylor free kick, but Lee Williamson’s third for Kimberley settled the issue seven minutes from the end.
However, on Tuesday night, Kimberley spilled points in their second game when 10-men Rainworth MW pulled off a 1-1 draw at the Stag Ground.
In the first league meeting between the two clubs since 2003, Rainworth’s keeper was sent off after conceding a penalty that Johnathan Jebbison tucked away, only to see the visitors dig deep to level.
