MIDFIELDER Danny Elliott was among the main winners as Eastwood Town’s fans and staff handed out their accolades at the club’s annual awards night.
Despite a difficult season which saw another change in ownership, budgets drastically cut and eventually relegation from the Blue Square Bet North, there were still positives on the playing side for manager John Ramshaw to build on in the next campaign.
Elliott won three Player of the Season awards on the night, those chosen by the manager, chairman and Eastwood Town Supporters Association.
Alex Troke won the other supporters award while defender Gavin Caines picked up the Players’ Player of the Season accolade.
Goalkeeper Sam Andrew, who Ramshaw remains keen to sign on a permanent deal following his loan spell from Tamworth, was named Young Player of the Season, with Perry Marriott claiming the Reserve Team Player of the Season award.
Ramshaw said: “Danny has shown huge promise throughout a tough season, and with us having taken up the option on his contract to keep him on, I expect him to be a key player for us next season.
“The fact he picked up three awards shows how highly he’s thought of
“Gavin Caines has been a model professional since I arrived here and it’s a big honour for him to have been nominated for that award by his fellow peers.
“He’s been a huge help to the coaching staff and again will be a big asset to us should we be able to agree a deal to keep him next season.
“Sam Andrew is another who came in and did very well in difficult circumstances. It’s quite rare for a loan player to pick up an award like that but he deserves it.”
Meanwhile, Ramshaw remains busy during the close season as he eyes up targets for the new campaign.
Already confirmed as being Eastwood players next season are Alex Troke, Jevaise Christie, Danny Elliott, Josh Burge and Sam Benjamin, with Gavin Caines offered non-contract terms.
Home friendlies have been arranged with Lincoln City on Saturday, July 21 and Scarborough Athletic a week later, while a trip to Coalville Town is also expected to be confirmed.
