Kimberley MW 3
Ruddington Village 2
A 93rd minute free-kick from Josh Stevenson handed Kimberley MW a deserved three points at The Stag Ground last Saturday.
Kimberley started brightly and the visiting keeper had to made a good double save to prevent them taking a early lead.
Against the run of play a good move from the visitors then saw a great strike from Leigh Sissons beat Matt Walsh from 20 yards out.
Kimberley kept on the pressure and Jake Fisher should have drawn them level on the half hour mark however a touch too many allowed the home defence to make a goal line clearance.
The Kimberley pressure finally got them a goal after 38 minutes when Andrew Tinsley’s 35-yard free-kick eluded everyone including the keeper.
Kimberley took a deserved lead by half-time as Leon Roberts’ whipping cross was met by the head of Stevenson who put Welfare in front.
Ruddington equalised after 65 minutes when Raymond Wright was quickest to react to a loose ball at the near post.
As the game appeared to be filtering out for a draw the assistant referee spotted a foul deep into injury-time, and it was left for Stevenson to smash to ball into the top left corner of the goal and move Kimberley up to third place.
On Saturday Kimberley welcome Wollaton to The Stag Ground, kick-off 3pm.
