Buxton Ruby Club and the Buxton Bulls have this week cemented a three year partnering agreement which will see the Bulls return to Sunnyfields to complete their remaining rugby league home games this season, starting this Saturday against Leamington.
Both management committees have been working extremely hard for some time to achieve a joint approach to rugby in the town to allow respective ambitions to be fulfilled on and off the pitch.
Buxton RC director of rugby Karl de Groot said: “We have completed a number of strategic projects over the summer in order to make this move possible, mainly with regard to facility improvements to allow us to move forwards.
“It’s exciting to see some joined-up thinking with regards to protecting both brands of rugby in the town which can only benefit the players and supporters of both clubs who want to play and watch quality rugby locally.
“Both clubs have outlined their aspirations to play at a higher level than they currently enjoy, and with a pooled player resource and some of the best facilities in the area we see no reason why this can’t be achieved over the period. We want Sunnyfields to become the ‘Home of Rugby’ for all codes moving forwards.”
