Priory Celtic Whites under-10s are all smiles as they celebrate winning the Filey Cup’s Champions League.
The annual competition, which attracts teams of a strong standard from up and down the country, was played out on a swelteringly hot weekend.
The first day saw Priory Celtic compete in the group stages on Saturday, with the boys playing well to finish second in the standings.
Onto Sunday and it was an early start as the team prepared to compete in the Champions League group of the tournament.
Priory Celtic hit the ground running, making an excellent start to the day, leading to spectators describe their performance as “the best football seen in the under-10s”.
The team maintained that level of performance throughout and went on to win the group thanks to some fine finishing in front of goal and only conceding once. It meant Priory Celtic would face pre-tournament favourites Greenhill A in the final.
But the youngsters didn’t let nerves get the better of them as they rose to the challenge to win, keeping a clean sheet along the way, to lift the ‘Champions League’ trophy.
