Nottinghamshire County Council is now inviting nominations for the 2011 Sports Awards.
It is your opportunity to highlight key achievements of individual sportspeople, teams, clubs, coaches and volunteers across 13 different categories.
More than 350 people attended the 2010 Sports Awards ceremony earlier this year at the Becket School in West Bridgford, Nottingham, where winners included golfer Lee Westwood as Sportsman of the Year and Notts County FC winning Outstanding Achievement of the Year.
The awards this year again include categories which recognise the talent and contribution young people make to Nottinghamshire sport.
Alongside the 13 categories, the county council is also seeking nominations in a new category which has been added for this year: Sporting School of the Year.
Cllr John Cottee, cabinet Member for culture and ommunity at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “The Sports Awards are a fantastic celebration of talent as we continue to grow our reputation as ‘the sporting county’.
“They also acknowledge the backroom staff who put so much work into supporting sport across the county.”
The nomination process is open to anyone and nominators can be teachers, coaches, volunteers, parents, or someone who plays alongside a potential sporting hero.
The qualifying time period, which will be what nominations are judged on, is from November 1, 2010 to October 31, 2011
An online nomination form along with guidelines and criteria is available from www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/leisure
The closing date for nominations is December 4.
