Priory Celtic round-up
It was a busy weekend for Priory following the winter break and the start of the new leagues for the younger age groups.
On Saturday the U10 Whites lost 2-1 at home to local rivals Moorgreen, Jake Flowers with the Priory goal, while the U10 Greens drew 1-1 at Sandiacre Town, Joshua Etches netting for the visitors.
The U8 Whites travelled to Arnold Town where Will Meakin won the man of the match award, whilst Harry Hallsworth won the award for the U8 Greens.
Matthew Clarkin won the U7 Greens’ award in their first game in the friendly league.
The U9 Whites settled well in Division Three with a 3-1 win at Burton Joyce, goals from Ben Howarth, Jake Lawes and Harrison Reed.
The U9 Greens beat West Bridgford 4-2 thanks to a brace from Bobby Watson and efforts from Thomas Marshall and Alfie Hawksworth, while the U12 Whites won 2-0 at Debdale Manor Colts, goals from Matthew Hallam and Robbie Horsley.
On Sunday, the U18s overcame Aspley Park on penalties to advance in the league cup after a 1-1 draw, Joseph Burden on target and keeper Luke Annable saving two in the shoot-out.
The U16s won 10-1 away at Hucknall Town. Goals came from Dev Lawson (3), Kaylum Mitchell and Cori Parris (2 each) and Travahn Seaton, Dion Ricci and Sam Hickman.
The U13s secured a 1-1 draw at Netherfield Boys, Jack Jones with the goal, while the U12 Greens won 5-0 against Market Warsop, Joshua Wright with a hat-trick and Tom Baxter and Chris Huskinsson also on target.
The U12 Girls lost 5-0 to title contenders Holy Spirit FC.
l The unbeaten senior side dropped points against Boots Wednesday.
Priory took the lead through Greg Wedge but were soon 2-1 down before Josh Stevenson, in his last game for the club after 15 years’ service, fittingly levelled the scores in injury-time.
l Priory’s new Soccer School, for boys and girls in school year one, started this week on Thursday afternoons between 5-6pm at Kimberley Leisure Centre.
