Selston have taken control of the title race in the Premier Division as two more victories took them to the summit.

Saturday saw Selston win 3-1 at seventh-placed Beeston, Ben Moore and Steve Smith among the scorers with Alex Ford replying.

They then went top of the table on Tuesday night with a 3-0 success over struggling Bilborough Town, Smith, Dominic Airey and Jay Cooper this time with the goals to leave their side a point clear and with two games in hand on their nearest rivals.

Kimberley MW have relinquished control in recent weeks and on Saturday fell to a 5-2 defeat at Wollaton.

Welfare were under pressure from the start with keeper Matt Walsh making two good saves before being beaten twice in quick succession to put the hosts in control.

Six minutes into the second-half Josh Stevenson’s free-kick beat the Wollaton keeper, quickly followed by Jake Fisher levelling from the penalty spot.

But Wollaton scored a penalty of their own to go back in front, and after Stevenson was then sent off, the home side scored yet another penalty before a fifth goal late on sealed the win.

Awsworth Villa remain firmly in mid-table but romped to a 6-2 win over Cotgrave.

The fixture historically supplies goals and Saturday was no different.

Villa led on four minutes with a neat turn and shot into the corner of the net from Ryan Osbourne, followed two minutes later by Greg Ellis hitting the second.

Moments later a neat one-two between Henson and Richard Hodgman saw the latter make it 3-0.

Defender Danny Tring headed a fourth before Cotgrave pulled two goals back before the break to make it 4-2, both scored by Kyle Waddell.

Ellis then competed his hat-trick in the second-half, one of his goals a penalty, to seal the victory.

Villa were unable to follow that win up with further success on Tuesday, however, as visitors Hucknall Rolls Leisure secured a 3-1 win to maintain their title push.

In Division One, Underwood Villa stay sixth after falling 3-1 at Ruddington Village Reserves, Callum Thompson with Villa’s goal.

Awsworth Villa Reserves, meanwhile, were beaten 1-0 at Bingham Town.

In Division Two, Moorgreen were convincing 6-1 winners at home to Underwood Villa Reserves, Paul Burton, Anthony Clifford, Channon Davis, Sam Dilks, James Whittaker and Adam Walsh scoring Moorgreen’s goals and Sam Tring netting the consolation.

Kimberley MW Reserves are fifth after losing 3-1 at home to Newark Flowserve, Dan Belcher with Kimberley’s goal.
