Selston keep the pressure on by beating Attenborough

Selston remain second in the Senior Division after a comprehensive 4-0 win at home to Attenborough on Saturday.

First-half strikes from Jay Cooper and Cameron Short were added to in the second period by Cooper’s second and a goal from Damien James - Selston now four points behind Cotgrave who have a game in hand but who could only draw 3-3 with Ruddington Village before beating Sandhurst on Wednesday.

Underwood Villa remain top of Division One on goal difference - a fact made more emphatic by an 8-0 win at home to struggling Nottingham United.

Sub Nicklaus Thorpe hit a hat-trick for Villa and Josh Niblett scored twice, the other goals coming from Josh Hunt, Greg Simmons and Luke Coxon.

Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves are up to fourth after they were 1-0 winners at home to Netherfield Albion, Ash Pythian with the only goal of the game.

Things don’t get much better for Awsworth Villa Reserves as they remain bottom and without a point after falling 4-3 at home to Southwell City Reserves, Josh Gaughan scoring twice and Andrew Richards also on target.

In Division Two, leaders Kimberley Miners Welfare AFC were out of action which allowed Watnall Athletic to close the gap at the top to just a point, although Athletic have played two games more.

They beat Keyworth United Reserves 3-1.

Underwood Villa Reserves were 3-2 winners at FC Samba to go seventh in the table, Tim Berridge, Ashley Foster and Devon Lawson scoring their goals.
