An arts and craft event which is to be held at Derby Roundhouse in May will showcase the best regional talent and encourage more people to fulfil their dreams of turning their talents into a viable business.
More than 60 regional artists have so far confirmed to attend the Art in the Round event on Saturday ,May 3, and Sunday, May 4, where they will exhibit their work and hold workshops and activities for visitors to join in.
The keynote speaker at the event will be Pete Mosley, business editor of Craft And Design magazine, who supports individuals to set up their own creative businesses and has written a book Make Your Creativity Pay.
His talk will be part of a programme taster sessions and video presentations for arts and craft enthusiasts, curated by The Refectory Table.
The event is being organised by Derby College, QUAD, Peak District Artisans, Ruth Gray Images, as well as lace maker Louise West and artist Pete Gill.
Derby College’s director of enterprise and innovation Louise Curd explained: “We hope that Art in the Round will establish a new arts experience for Derby, enabling local people to see some of the area’s best artists, participate in workshops and activities and learn something new.”
She added:“Many of the people who come to the event may also be considering turning their hobbies into a business and, along with the exhibiting artists, will find Pete Mosley’s advice and guidance on how to achieve this very informative.”
