THERE’s a touch of Eastern promise at Kedleston Hall, near Derby, on Friday, September 30.
Visitors to the National Trust attraction are being invited to discover more about a little-known collection of objects from Asia in the Eastern Museum, as part of a lecture, followed by an Indian buffet lunch.
Visitors will be able to find out about some of the fascinating objects among the large collection acquired by Lord Curzon during his travels in Asia and while he was Viceroy of India (1899-1905).
On his visits, it is thought Lord Curzon developed a taste for the cuisine, bringing back a variety of spices to Kedleston where they were used to prepare exotic dishes including curry.
Booking is essential for A Taste of India and tickets, priced at £20, can be purchased by telephoning 01332 842191. A Taste of India takes place from 11am – 2pm.
