Comics spread the laughter

There’s a bumper crop of comics appearing at Glee Club Nottingham during July.

This weekend (July 11-12), you can see performances there by Bethany Black, Gordon Southern, Mark Maier and Alfie Moore.

Managing to balance being ‘dark-tinged but magical’ with being warm and chatty, Bethany Black has built a cult following for her brand of confessional comedy.

She has worked alongside some of the greats of the industry and written jokes for acts as diverse as Brendon Burns and Jimmy Cricket.

Then, on July 18-19, Daniel Townes, George Egg, Andrew Stanley and Steve Williams are the guest performers.

The last few years have been huge for Daniel Townes, in 2011 he recorded his first live DVD Previously at the Sydney Comedy Store, and was shortlisted for both the People’s Choice Award and title of Sydney’s Best Comedian in the 2011 Time Out Magazine Awards during the Sydney Comedy Festival.

Finally, on July 25-26, the visitors to Glee Club Nottingham will be Chris McCausland, Harriet Dyer, Ro Campbell and John Hastings.

As the only comedian in the UK and probably the world who is blind, Chris McCausland has established himself at the very top of the comedy circuit with a unique and wide ranging brand of observational comedy that only occasionally focuses on this.

He has been performing stand-up for over ten years and has performed all over the world.

In 2011 he was awarded the Cultural Diversity award for Comedy by Channel4, BBC, ITV and Sky TV.

The gigs are all for those aged 18 and over.

Prices are £10 standard entry/£5 student entry/ £14 Mexican Food and entry ticket.
