The latest music treat at The Queen’s Head in Belper is to take place on Thursday, May 15.
You will be able to enjoy a performance there by the acclaimed Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin.
Now formally installed as Radio Two’s Best Duo, Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin bring their eclectic mix back to the venue, based on Chesterfield Road in the town.
Discovered by Steve Knightly of Show of Hands, their wide range of material and instrumentation quickly attracted notice on the club and festival circuit but it was their second album Mynd which brought them a wider audience and brought critical acclaim and rapturous reviews from the likes of The Guardian’s Robin Denselow.
Their influences range from Appalaichan to English traditional music with a dash of ska and the Devon-based duo have followed fellow Devonian Seth Lakeman to the forefront of the contemporary scene.
Featuring slide guitar, banjo and harmonica behind the soaring vocals of Hannah Martin, they channel folk roots into bravely original new routes.
Admission is £8 by advance ticket or £10 on the door. Doors open at 8.15pm. See http://belpermusicandarts.co.uk/
