Derby LIVE is hosting three shows that will be taking place as part of the national Get Creative Family Arts Festival.

They are Disney’s Sing-a-long-a Frozen on Sunday, The Boat and The Blue, also on Sunday, and The Falcon’s Malteser on Wednesday, October 28.

The Get Creative Family Arts Festival is a national initiative with thousands of events across the entire country. Founded by the Family Arts Campaign and supported by Arts Council England, the festival is going from strength to strength as it enters its third year, running from October 9–November 1.

Sing-along-a Frozen includes a full screening of Disney’s Frozen with lyrics on screen to sing along to during the film. Introduced by a live host who will guide the audience through the interactive screening by demonstrating how to use the free prop bag, warm up their singing voices and teach dance moves with the help of a couple of special princesses. The film will be brought to life offering the chance to experience the movie in a whole new light, with Elsa and Anna appearing onstage as if they have walked out of the film.

Sing-along-a Frozen will be performed at the Guildhall Theatre at 11am and 2:30pm. Tickets are £16.25. Concessions and family tickets are available.

Sinfonia Viva’s The Boat & The Blue tells the story of Rowan’s wonderful adventures. We set sail on the high seas with Rowan and her paper boat, and dive headfirst into an ocean teeming with life.

Presented by composer and guitarist Jack Ross, and accompanied by 12 Sinfonia Viva musicians, the concert will feature new music written by Jack, as well as a host of orchestral favourites that will give you a flavour of a life on the ocean wave, and the sort of creatures you might meet there.

Frogs, ducks, a blue whale and many more will be imaginatively portrayed by the orchestra, and complemented by the wonderful illustrations of visual artist, Eleanor Meredith, whose stunning live drawings and animation will be projected on a big screen behind the orchestra.

The Boat & The Blue will be performed at the Rolls-Royce Plc Learning & Development Centre at 2pm. Tickets are £5.

The Falcon’s Malteser, by Anthony Horowitz, has been adapted for the stage by New Old Friends and is a hilarious family film noir pastiche following the adventures of the hopelessly inept private detective Tim Diamond and his sharp-witted brother Nick.

The show toured the country last year to sell out houses and great reviews.

The Falcon’s Malteser will be performed at the Guildhall Theatre at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12.

Tickets for all of the shows can be purchased on 01332 255800.
