Ladies’ night for The Queen

FOUR leading female soloists will join forces for a classical concert in Nottingham on July 5 with a royal theme.

Alison Balsom (trumpet), Nicola Benedetti (violin), Natalie Clein (cello) and Lesley Garrett (soprano and presenter) will be appearing in The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert at the Royal Concert Hall, with the event getting under way at 7.30pm.

Sian Edwards will be conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a glittering parade of stunning pieces for soloist and orchestra.

These include The Lark Ascending and The Wasps Overture by Vaughan Williams, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, Handel’s Let The Bright Seraphim, Walton’s Two Pieces From Henry V, Elgar’s Chanson De Matin and Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana.
