There’S a patriotic evening of classical music at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Monday, April 23, to celebrate St George’s Day.
Sinfonia Viva will be back at the venue, under the baton of Nicholas Collon, to perform Britten’s Serenade For Tenor, Horn and Strings, Walton’s Two Pieces For Strings from his film music to Henry V and Vaughan Williams’s Fifth Symphony.
There will also be Berlioz’s Love Scene from Romeo and Juliet.
The composer may be French but the inspiration comes from one of England’s literary giants.
Allan Clayton (tenor) and Richard Watkins (horn) are the soloists in the Britten work.
