An auction night in aid of Derby arts centre Quad has raised just under £10,000 for the organisation’s work with communities locally.
The auction took place at the Cathedral Quarter Hotel, Derby, on March 1.
Lots included a copy of the Kes script signed by director Ken Loach, which sold for £700, and a War Horse hat signed by Steven Spielberg, which had been brought by special guest John Tams.
John Tams had recently arrived back from working with Steven Spielberg on the new stage production of War Horse in Toronto. The Derbyshire-born folk legend John Tams also announced at the auction that he was to become a patron of Quad.
Quad director Keith Jeffrey said: “John Tams is a man with incredibly strong local roots but an international reputation for his work in music, film and theatre.
“We are delighted he has joined us as patron alongside John Hurt and Paddy Considine as he shares our belief in the power of art and film to change lives.”
