Folk fans are in for a treat with a performance by The Steve Tilston Trio at Derby’s Assembly Rooms on Friday, March 14, from 8pm.
BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winner of Best Original Song 2012, Steve Tilston makes a welcome return to the venue.
Ace guitarist Steve celebrates over 40 years in the business, and the release of his latest recording Happenstance.
As writer of the classics Slipjigs and Reels, The Naked Highwayman, A Pretty Penny and The Reckoning, he’s on fine form, as ever, and the Steve Tilston Trio is testament to the fact that he’s one of our finest songwriters.
Steve is joined by virtuoso harmonica player Keith Warmington, and Stuart Gordon, one of the best improvising violinists in the country, performing beautiful arrangements of songs old and new.
Formed for a one-off show, the trio sounded great, and all three enjoyed playing together so much, they decided it would be fun to do more.
The concert will also feature some traditional and contemporary songs from the folk scene by Derbyshire Duo, Judy Dunlop and Steve Marsh, featuring a delightful voice and amazing guitar work.
Tickets are £16, concessions £15, under 16s £8, available from the box office on 01332 255800.
