Former soap stars Dean Gaffney and Gemma Bissix head the cast of Agatha Christie’s A Murder Is Announced when it opens the presented season at Derby Theatre.
One of Agatha Christie’s best-loved mysteries, A Murder Is Announced can be seen there from January 29-February 2.
The villagers of Chipping Cleghorn are agog with curiosity over an advertisement in the local gazette which reads ‘a murder is announced and will take place on Friday 29th October, at Little Paddocks at 6.30pm.’ A childish practical joke? Or a hoax intended to scare poor Letitia Blacklock?
Unable to resist the mysterious invitation, a crowd begins to gather at Little Paddocks at the appointed time when, without warning, the lights go out…
What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a determined Inspector grimly following the twists and turns and the inimitable Miss Marple on hand to provide the final solution in a dramatic confrontation scene just before the final curtain.
Dean Gaffney is best known for his 11 years as Robbie Jackson in Eastenders, but is also a noted stage actor.
Gemma Bissix, another Eastenders star as a child but better known these days for her award-winning role as the villainous Clare Devine in Hollyoaks co-stars, as does Katy Manning, one of the most iconic Doctor Who assistants, and John D Collins from’Allo ‘Allo.
Tickets to see this production of A Murder Is Announced are £10 - £23, concessions £10 - £21. For more information and to book tickets call the box office on 01332 59 39 39.
