Preparations are well advanced for this year’s Horsley Woodhouse Village Carnival.
One of the most popular events of its kind in the area, this year’s carnival is to be held on Saturday, July 19, organised again by the Horsley Woodhouse Community Association.
The event will start with a procession through the village getting under way at 1pm, and will end up at the Sitwell Recreation Ground.
There is a £2 entry fee for adults with a ‘lucky’ programme on entry, while children will have free admission.
This year, organisers have introduced Terrier Racing, and Nesta’s Ark, which will give the opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with some wonderful creatures.
The Art and Craft Tent returns due to its popularity last year.
There will also be a Fun Tug of War Competition for adults and children, Pony Rides, Children’s Races and lots more.
The Fun Dog Show, run by the Neighbourhood Watch Association returns again while Heage Brass Band will be playing during the afternoon, along with the two marching band displays.
So, the preparations are in place, now the organisers will be hoping that the good old British weather behaves itself.
Entries for the Fun Tug of War Competition (children, men’s, women’s and mixed of six in a team) can be sent to Horsley Woodhouse Carnival Association’s secretary Vanessa Feeney, as can any other and enquiries about the day itself .
