Pub exhibition for local artist

A nocturnal vision of Nottingham is presented in a series of paintings by veteran artist Bob Evans at a new exhibition.

The oil paintings and prints show familiar city locations through the dark filter of Film Noir and Blues, and are on show at the Lincolnshire Poacher from Sunday May 15 until Saturday May 21.

Evans has painted city scenes for the past 40 years. His motto is simple: “Painting first, everything else last.” And his advice to aspiring artists is even simpler: “Get on with it, don’t talk about it.”

He came to the city in 1968 to study fine art at the Nottingham College of Art and Design. For the last 40 years he has exhibited and sold his work throughout Nottinghamshire and nationally.

He estimates he has produced well over 1,000 paintings and continues to create between 25 and 35 a year. His most recent commission was an oil painting to commemorate World War One, which now hangs in Hucknall Library. Visit www.bobevansnottm.com.
