A man was over the limit when he drove home from a barbecue in a Mansfield car park, a court has heard.

Rafal Konrad Perczynski, 33, of Howard Road, Mansfield, admitted drink driving when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard a police officer gave advice to Perczynski about a barbecue he was having in a car park off Ravensdale Road, but later spotted him driving poorly on Westfield Lane.

A breath test on July 16 revealed he had 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Perczynski told magistrates: “I am very sorry about what happened. I won’t drive with two sips of alcohol in the future.”

He was banned for 12 months and fined £120 with a £30 victim surcharge and costs of £85.
