Nottingham 'predator’ who raped woman on night out jailed for more than nine years

On the evening of February 20, Michael Doyle, 28, of no fixed address, raped a woman who was on her way home having left a nightclub.
He had approached her when she was on her own and offered to walk her home before sexually assaulting her in an alleyway and stealing a bag that contained her phone.

Hide AdDoyle was located by police after the iCloud of his victim’s stolen phone was logged into and traced to a pub in Derbyshire.
He was subsequently charged with rape and pleaded guilty to the offence just weeks before a trial was due to start.
He was jailed at Nottingham Crown Court on August 14, for nine years and six months for rape and theft.
Detective Inspector Gareth Harding, of Nottinghamshire’s Public Protection Team, said: “Doyle’s actions on that evening were predatory and despicable.
“He approached a young woman and forced himself on her.

Hide Ad"Good police work allowed us to locate Doyle and make an arrest after the phone he stole from the victim was found to be in his possession.
“I’d like to commend the victim for their bravery throughout this investigation and hope today’s result brings them some closure.”
