Man in court charged with mother and daughter murder

A 20-year-old man is expected to appear in court today (Tuesday) accused of murdering two women in Shirebrook.

Christopher Whelan will appear at Chesterfield magistrates’ court charged with the murders of Julie Hill and her mother Rose Hill at a house on Station Road on Thursday, February 25.

Their bodies were discovered inside the property on Friday evening.

Ms Hill (51) lived at the house while her 75-year-old mother was from Sheffield.

Whelan, of Dransfield Road, Sheffield, was arrested the day after the discovery and charged with the women’s murders last night (Monday).
