Plans for signage and advertising associated with the new Starbucks outlet have now been granted conditional permission by the council, the local planning authority.

A planning statement accompanying the application said: “The development relates to the internal fit-out of the existing ground-floor commercial retail space and involves the removal of all existing commercial fit-out, walls, doors and floor and ceiling finishes and installation of all new walls, doors, ceiling, flooring, lighting, mechanical and electrical and fixtures and fittings to create a new Starbucks coffee store.

“The proposed works will retain the existing external appearance completely as existing with the addition of new external signage, with the consent to display advertisements.”

The plans reveal the store will be located in a unit on West Gate, previously occupied by Thomas Cook travel agents – Thomas Cook collapsed into administration in 2019 – next door to family jewellers F Hinds and close to Mansfield Library and the entrance to the shopping centre.
