Creative Edwinstowe pupils become scientists for the week

Teacher Katie Wright said children at St Mary’s Church of England Primary School relished the tasks and problem-solving set during the week.
She said: “The whole school were involved in the science week and thoroughly enjoyed the tasks set in their year groups.”

Hide AdPupils investigated different materials and made bridges based on the story of Billy Goat Gruff, built a marble run using recycled materials, and created their own printed artworks using stone age techniques.
“They created their own colour pigments by grinding down grass, flowers and soil, leaving the water to evaporate,” added Katie. “These pigments were then used in printing and paintings.”
Older children created designs for new machines and were even visited virtually by a professor of virology to discuss how science is used in the response to the pandemic, before taking a virtual tour of a laboratory.
