Mansfield head teacher's slime bath ordeal for Children in Need

A Mansfield head teacher found himself up to his ears in a bath full of cold, green slime on Friday!

The children at Intake Farm Primary School on Armstrong Road planned the slippery soak for their head teacher Julian Fieldwick.

Mr Fieldwick donned flippers, a snorkel, a frilly shower cap, and Pudsey bear ears whilst being egged on to take the plunge.

Dabbling his fingers into the slime, Mr Fieldwick said: “I hope it will be lovely warm, with some nice scented bath oils in it?”

To which the children roared “get in, get in! It's slime!”

The bath was made even more unpleasant as scary creatures, including giant spiders, lined the bath.

On the school’ Facebook page, where a video was posted, Mr Fieldwick: “It was a very, unlovely, very cold slimey bath!”

The fun was all part of the school’s fun-filled Wacky Dress Up Day and activities raising money for Children In Need. Pupils were allowed to go to school in a variety of crazy clothes, sporting mad hair styles, wearing garments inside out, back to front or in mismatched shoes.

Due to Covid 19 only one class, made up of the children who managed to raise the most money were allowed to watch the slime bath in person, but the rest of the school’s classes watched via computer link up.

Mr Fieldwick said: “The Year 5 children had a blast whilst the rest of the children were able to watch via Teams.

"The school managed to raise £755.85 for Children In Need, an amazing amount! Thank you to everyone for all the support. I can't believe how much was raised, so impressive!”
