Mrs Wilbourne started at King Edward Primary School on St Andrew Street in 1984 as a newly-qualified teacher, and has remained at the school throughout her career.
Having taught over 1,000 children, she is retiring this month after 36 years at the school.
Starting out as Miss Kirk, she has seen many changes over the years, and even starred in a viral video which the school recorded to remind the children they were missed by their teachers during lockdown.
A spokesperson from the school said: “Mrs Wilbourne is a talented and highly-skilled teacher who has made a difference to so many families.
"We will miss her dearly, but she has promised to visit us.
“We would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication, and we wish her a long and happy retirement.”
