The youngsters at Heathlands Primary School took part in a ‘Santa Dash’ event today (Friday).

The 106-pupil school on Ransom Road usually take part in the annual ‘Jingle Jog’- a fun run held at Sherwood Pines with other schools. The children would don Santa hats and reindeer antlers to run a 3k route.

But this year, due to Covid 19, the event was cancelled. So the school decided to organise its own special socially distanced event renaming it the ‘Santa Dash.’ It was organised by sports coordinator Chris Lindley.

Heather Moorehouse, school office manager, said: “ To spread a bit of Christmas cheer during these difficult times we decided that we will still don our Santa hats and bring the Jingle Jog home!

"We re-named the event the Santa Dash and the children enjoyed running in the school playground, jumping over hurdles and round obstacles in their class bubbles.

“The children really enjoyed it, they had been very excited and looking forward to it. We hope it helped bring them some festive fun when so many events this year have been unfortunately cancelled.
