Sutton students appealing for free cars

The phrase “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’ is ringing true for Sutton students – who are asking for old vehicles to help with their education.

Mechanical engineering students at West Nottinghamshire College’s Engineering Innovation Centre, Oddicroft Lane, Sutton, are asking for donations of old vehicles.

As part of their programmes, students are required to work on vehicles to ensure they are familiar with the engine workings, suspension systems, brakes, tyres and exhaust systems.

Students and their tutors are now appealing for people to consider donating any old cars or car-sized vans which have come to the end of their life.

Andy Gray, automotive programme area leader, said: “It might be your vehicle has failed its MoT and isn’t economical to repair. These are the perfect projects for our students to experience in the workshop.

“Once we have done all we can with the projects, vehicles are dismantled and scrapped.”
