Bassetlaw Neighbourhood Team hold day of action to put brakes on speeding motorists

A team of special officers and police community support officers held a day of action on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, where they recorded the speed of a total of 417 vehicles.
The day resulted in 20 drivers being issued with Traffic Offence Reports for excessive speed in a 30mph zone which included an HGV lorry. A further 35 drivers were given advice.

Hide AdThe team are planning to put more procedures in place to address the speeding issues within the area.
Neighbourhood Inspector Neil Bellamy said: "We're really wanting to crack down on issues of speeding in the area and plan to hold more events like this on a regular basis.
"My team worked really hard behind the scenes in terms of planning and resourcing the operation not to mention their dedication in checking so many vehicles on the day.
"Speed limits are there for a reason, to prevent serious injury or death in key areas so those who ignore the restrictions are putting themselves and others at risk.
