Antonio Asan's Opel Vectra was stopped on St Peter's Way just after midnight on October 10 last year, prosecutor Daniel Pietryka said.
A breath test revealed he had 73 mcgs of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Hide AdRan Johal, mimtigating, said Asan, who is of previous good character, has held a clean driving licence for 11 years.
He had finished a shift at a sandwich factory in Worksop, he said, and had some drinks at home before making the ‘foolish decision’ to drive to the petrol station for cigarettes.
Asan, 31, of Broxtowe Drive, Mansfield, pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He was fined £300, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge, and banned for 18 months.
