Teenagers target pensioner is Southwell distraction burglary

A man aged in his 70s reported that two girls had come to his address, off The Ropewalk, and said they were raising money for a children's home.

While he was distracted it's believed a third person went round the back and entered his home before stealing a watch from inside a bedroom.

It happened at about 12.45pm on Tuesday, September 22.

It's believed one of the girls was aged about 15 and the other around 17. They were both smartly dressed. One has dark hair and the other has blonde hair and was wearing trousers.

Detective Sergeant Rick Ellis, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We are working hard to find those responsible for this crime and to bring them to justice.

"I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident, or who may have been approached in a similar manner by girls matching the descriptions given, to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101.

“I would like remind all residents to keep their doors and windows locked and not to open their doors to anyone they are not expecting or who they do not know.

“If you are unsure always ask for ID and, if you have any concerns about the caller’s intentions, contact a family member or neighbour or inform the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 172 of 23 September 2020, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
