Library service to continue at new location

After a village library closed its doors a new service has now been opened by Nottinghamshire County Council's chairman.

The Nottinghamshire County Council chairman, Coun John Handley, had a number of engagements across the district including the opening of Jacksdale Community Partnership Library alongside the Place Committee Chairman, Coun John Cottee on Wednesday, March 7.

Inspire has been working with the community to develop a sustainable library service.

The community has been aware of the relocation and Community Partnership Library process throughout, as various locations have been discussed within them.

Coun John Cottee said: “We are totally committed to our libraries service, ensuring they are in the heart of their community, and this initiative is part of our continuing vision for libraries to be modern, community, cultural and information hubs.

“We want to continue to provide a great service to library users, but sometimes this requires creative and innovative ways to deliver the service”

Jacksdale’s old library which was located in Selston Road closed its doors on Monday, February 26.

The new library is located in the Dale Club in Main Road, Jacksdale.

The opening hours for the library are Monday, 1.30pm to 5pm, Wednesday, 1.30pm to 6pm and Saturday, 9am to 12pm.
