Memorial service for Ciaran Sweeney
The body of the 14-year-old from Mansfield’s Oak Tree estate was found in a quarry in October.
Ciaran’s disappearance sparked a large scale search operation aided by hundreds of members of the local community and his school, the Samworth Church Academy.

Hide AdA private funeral was held but his family has now organised the service at St Alban’s Church with an open invitation.
Ciaran’s mother, Rheane O’Neill contacted the Chad and said: “There’s been an announcement at Ciaran’s school so they can say their farewells.
“We wanted his funeral to be a private affair, but there were so many people involved in the search for him, this is people’s chance to say goodbye.”
Ciaran’s body was found in a gravel pit off Southwell Road by a police underwater unit weeks after he was reported missing.
He was identified through DNA testing.
A post-mortem has since failed to reveal the cause of his death.
The service will be held Wednesday 27th November, and will start at 7pm.
