"Now the Pines has closed a car park it’s probably going to get worse. Someone should do something before some innocent person loses their life just so someone avoids a three quid parking charge.
A Newark and Sherwood Council spokesperson said: “On-street parking enforcement would be a Nottinghamshire County Council matter. However, we are aware of issues in Edwinstowe and problems with pavement/grass verge parking.
“At present if there are no restrictions on the road adjacent the footpath, then there is no contravention and this is the case in Edwinstowe. One option may be to put restrictions in place but this would be a Nottinghamshire County Council decision.”

“In Edwinstowe, we have taken action to ensure those visiting the area are parking safely and appropriately by installing additional warning signs, as well as carrying out regular enforcement visits.
“This monitoring will continue, and we would like to remind drivers that dangerous parking is a hazard to other road users and pedestrians.
“Vehicles parking on the highway verges in Edwinstowe are reminded, this area is covered by restrictions on waiting and that Penalty Charge Notices will be issued when necessary.
