She added; “Mr Betts said he wanted to be a positive role model before but does not seem to have followed that through.
“We would ask you to activate the sentence today as we feel there is nothing left to offer.”
Mark Stocks, defending, said: “If you decide to impose the custodial term I would ask you to give Mr Betts some credit for the part of the order that has been complied with.”

He added: “Since the court imposed the order he has started using amphetamine on a fairly significant basis intravenously on a daily basis.
“Without some sort of intervention it is likely to lead to the commission of more offences in the short-term.”
Mr Stocks asked the magistrate not to activate Betts’ jail term and impose a drug rehabilitation requirement instead.

“That is taking into account all the work you managed to complete. This has been a wilful and persistent failure to comply with your order.”
