Elliott joins the ‘Ironmen’ ranks
The race consists of a continuous 2.4 mile open water swim and 112 mile cycle leg followed by a 26.2 mile marathon.
Matthew braved the incredibly high temperatures to finish the iconic event, generally agreed to be the world’s hardest triathlon, in 15 hours and 26 seconds.

Hide AdOf 2,258 starters, Matthew was one of 1,904 who conquered the gruelling conditions to finish.
And in a remarkable double his son Harry completed the IronKids event on the previous day to make a very special weekend for the Elliott family.
Also racing overseas was Sharon Barton in her inaugural appearance for Team GB.
This year’s ITU duathlon World Championships were held in Pontevedra, Spain, on a course made difficult by its infamous 9k climb on the bike leg.

Hide AdRacing against some of the finest age group athletes from around the world, Sharon completed the 5k run, 20k bike and 2.5k run in just one hour, 24 minutes and 36 seconds.
In another great result for the club, Samantha O’Conner won first in category in the Midlands Sprint Series.
Samantha was first in category in each of the series three races held at Lincoln, Southwell and Woodhall Spa.
In the same series Jordan Boam also took first in category, winning two of his three races. Chris Shooter, in a welcome return to racing after a lengthy break, worked hard to earn his fourth in category, completing a terrific season of racing for the club.

Hide AdKeeping herself busy, Deborah Kerry competed in the ITU World Series triathlon race at Hyde Park London. Racing in the Olympic distance event, Deborah finished in two hours and 44 minutes, continuing her run of fine form this year.
Meanwhile at Rutland Water the club fielded three athletes in the Dambuster triathlon.
First home for the club was Scott Tilley in two hours and 33 minutes, closely followed by Jordan Boam in 2.40, which was good enough for third in category, and Steve Monaghan in 2.55.
