After an even start to the game the home side took the lead after 14 minutes when great play by Josh Hardcastle down the right hand side saw him put in a cross that found Joe Crosby in the middle who beat Charlie Bryan from close range.

The goal spurred the Cobras into action and after Josh Pickering had put a close range header wide they equalised in the 29th minute when Jack Warwick met a Pickering cross and his touch at the near post went across home ‘keeper Joe Wilton and into the far corner of the goal.

Charlie Bryan then had to be alert to keep out a powerful Kieran Greenway free kick from just outside the area.

Josh Pickering latched onto a Jordan Wells through ball and beat Wilton from the corner of the area with a well-placed shot on 36 minutes.

Clipstone continued to create the better chances in the second period and Jack Warwick should have grabbed his second when a corner was headed on at the near post and he stooped to head down the ball which bounced and went over.

On 82 minutes Will Heather nearly sealed the points when put through but saw his shot come back off the post. However the game was put to bed two minutes later when Dec Sorrell scored with a penalty after Cobras’ man of the match Mitch Mullins had been brought down in the area.

Despite six minutes of added time during which Bryan had to palm away a header from corner the away side held on for three well-deserved points.

The Cobras remain in 15th place in the league with 11 points from 10 games and are now at home to Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday 26th September, 3pm.
