Junior Jessie '˜outstanding'

A group of 31 runners from Mansfield Harriers competed among a field of 468 at the Hardwick 10K last week.

The route began at the village of Pilsley and ran through the surrounding areas, including the climb from the Hardwick Inn to the Hall.

It has become a firm favourite on the local scene.

Outstanding junior Jessie Crawshaw placed a superb second lady in the event and 38th overall with a time of 42.54 and Roy Smith won the Masters 60 category placing 98th overall recording 47.56.

First Mansfield athlete home was Stuart Whysall who placed 17th overall and remarkably ran under 40 minutes for the first time at this distance with 39.56 and will no doubt go much faster on a friendlier course.

Clive Buck chased Whysall hard all the way placing 22nd in 40.23 with Jack Cooke close behind in 24th 40.48 and Adam Fairfield in 27th with 41.07. Making the top 200, Dave Robertson is showing a continuing return to form placing 136th in 49.51, Pete Weldon placed 145th in 50.23 with Pete Copcutt 176th 52.00, Mark Burr 177th 52.02 and Katherine Knight 197th 53.16.

Shane Davis led the charge in to the finish, placing 222nd in 54.12, with close behind Sarah Bradbury 246th 55.31, Natasha Carver 249th 55.45, Karen Kowalski 254th 55.53 and Sarah Scott 260th in 56 minutes and remarkably a 10-minute course best time.

Tim Richardson was next home in 300th with 57.55 closely followed by Mel Ceney 327th 59.14, Claire Booth 348th 59.53, Leanne Elsam 358th 61.30, Tina Copcutt 360th 61.59, Troy Revill 363rd 62.14, Julie Winter 365th 61.58, Jess Breider 394th 64.37, Vicki Faulkner 396th 64.43, Sally Wilson 399th 64.24, Latia Renshaw 400th 64.24, Michelle Baxter 424th 67.03, Ellie Stenson 441st 69.51, Theresa Copcutt 455th 75.28 and George Denton 462nd with 77.57.

In other local races Sarah Scott raced at the Keyworth Long Lane Dash five-mile event recording 40.52 for a fine 61st place and at the Tara Kinder 10K Angela Purdue ran superbly to get under 50 minutes with a 49.07 finishing time.
